Repair Café Godalming Celebrates 1,000 Repairs 🎉

On Saturday, 22 November 2025, Repair Café Godalming proudly reached a remarkable milestone: 1,000 successful repairs. The room erupted in cheers and applause from owners and volunteers alike—and to mark the moment, we rang our Celebration Brass Bell, filling the hall with a joyful chime that symbolised the spirit of community and achievement.

This milestone was made possible by the dedication of our 40+ volunteers, who generously give their time and skills to help others. In just three years, their efforts have:

• Diverted 3.3 tonnes of materials from landfill

• Prevented 24 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions

• Saved owners significant amounts of money

The 1,000th repair was a beautiful French antique-style table lamp. It arrived with unsuitable two-core cabling and fittings, but volunteer Tim carefully restored it with antique-style three-core cable, a new anchorage and grommet, an earth connection, and a fresh switch.

Judith, who brought the lamp in for her daughter, was delighted to see it shining again—safe, functional, and as good as new. Her daughter will be thrilled to have this cherished piece back in working order.
